Cǎihóng 彩虹
Beijing, CN/WW (2014)Cǎihóng 彩虹 is an app that predicts the formation of rainbows, and sends you an alert if rainbows are nearby. You can spot, upload and share your rainbows – to show that rainbows are here to stay! Originally designed as a reaction to the (2013) law banning homosexual propoganda in Russia – Cǎihóng 彩虹 is a comment on the power of nature versus politics, and a (meteorological) protest without fear of reprisal. The app was re-designed in 2019 and launched during IDAHOT, in China.
